Sixth FormGEMS Bolitho Sixth Form is your child’s opportunity to expand their horizons. We aim at all times to build aspiration, to inspire and to motivate our students so they have the opportunity for greater choice in life. Our dedicated sixth form team prepare our students for life at university world-wide, ensuring that they develop as confident and articulate young adults, respectful and respected, capable of independent and critical thought and appropriately prepared for higher-level achievement. The International Baccalaureate encourages students to balance their academic work with a range of extra-curricular activities. Our Creative, Action and Service Programme (CAS) involves our students in a range of activities alongside their academic studies, aimed at developing and encouraging them to be ‘reflective thinkers, willing to accept new challenges and new roles, aware of yourself as a member of a community with responsibilities towards each other and the environment, to be an active participant in sustained, collaborative projects and to be a balanced individual who can enjoy and find significance in a range of activities.’ Leadership skills are key to a successful university application. At GEMS Bolitho Sixth Form we provide a variety of opportunities for our students to develop these skills. Our Head Boy and Head Girl are appointed annually and hold positions of responsibility within the whole school. The Head Boy and Head Girl lead a team of Senior Prefects, as well as co-chairing the Student Council Meetings. The Prefect system promotes a strong sense of community and support across the year groups, with Senior Prefects attached to each discreet section of the school. Many of our Sixth Formers are also involved in coaching and leading activities for the younger pupils in the school. A strong but caring ethos prevails in our school. Our three Houses have two Sixth Formers as Head of each House. Their role is to help run House events and organise fund raising activities for the House Charity. Our Peer Mentor Programme provides opportunities for students to offer their skills, interests and time to helping those younger than themselves. At GEMS Bolitho Sixth Form we understand that academic excellence is valued by universities world-wide. However, we also recognise the need to ensure that our students have that ‘point of difference’ that will make their application stand out from the crowd. Our Extra Curricular programme offers a wide variety of activities including Surfing, Gym Membership, Film Club, Sailing, The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Ten Tors, Orchestra and The School Show. GEMS Bolitho Sixth Form will provide you with an invigorating approach to learning and place you firmly on the ladder to success in Higher Education and employment. If you aspire to succeed, why not come and spend a day with us and see for yourself. |
